We love bookmarks!

Customizing a bookmark design to fit even the most challenging criteria is part of the fun of being in the custom printed bookmarks business.

Customizing a bookmark design to fit even the most challenging criteria is part of the fun of being in the custom printed bookmarks business.

People often ask us how we decided on the custom bookmarks business, and I always tell them it came from our love of bookmarks and reading.  I’ve always been creative on the computer, so making bookmarks for my friends and family on birthdays and at Christmas became my “thing” to the point where if I didn’t give someone a bookmarker made just for them, they’d feel disappointed. My home made bookmarks would always include their name, appropriate artwork — whether it was beautiful flowers for one of my girlfriends or a sports background for a nephew, and usually a quote or poem I’d select just for them.

My partner Rose Marie and her husband are avid readers, so it was not surprising after returning home from vacation one year that Rose Marie had purchased souvenier bookmarks from The Mark Twain House in Hartford, Connecticut. It was right about that time that Rose Marie and I were thinking about going into business together, only we hadn’t completely decided on what it was we’d do. The second she showed me the souvenier bookmarks, a light bulb went off in my head.  I knew custom personalized bookmarks was the right business for us, and we went full-steam ahead with our business plan to begin Impressive Inscriptions.

Six years later, we are still enjoying the premise of this business which was built on the idea that being able to provide professionally-made, high-quality, custom made-to-order bookmarks for any event or occasion imaginable would be popular, and more importantly appreciated, by anyone who loves to read or loves bookmarks.

In fact, Rose Marie and I are often the recipients of bookmarks from our own friends and family because they know how much we love them.  While we make one type of laminated bookmark with the focus on personalizing and customizing, there are many other beautiful kinds of bookmarks available from metal bookmarks to leather and jeweled bookmarks, and we love those just as much.

We were recently mentioned in the Bookmark Collector blog “Bookmark Bookmarks” and also love the site Mirage Bookmark, a wonderful website about bookmarks.  We highly recommend visiting these interesting sites loaded with history and information about bookmarks.

One of the most enjoyable things about our business is the fact that we can create the most customized bookmark to fit any occasion or theme, and the fact that our bookmarks become the keepsake of milestone events, or even the loss of a loved one, makes what we do very gratifying. One of the most challenging bookmarks we’ve ever created is shown here. The mother of the young man wanted bookmarks for his Bar Mitzvah favors, because he loves to read.  But she wanted his other interests incorporated into the design, and she began telling me what those were:  magic tricks, juggling, soccer, golf, gymnastics (specifically, the trapeze!) and he rode a unicycle, played the violin and loved music!  Wow, that was a tall order, and to make it even more challenging, she ordered our smallest-size bookmark, which limited the amount of printable area. But we managed to come up with a youthful, fun design which included every interest and even fit the “fall colors” color scheme of the party.

So whether you call them bookmarks or bookmarkers, and collect them or use them, if you love them as much as we do, we hope you will visit often to see more examples of some of our most challenging and creative custom bookmark examples taken from actual customer orders. With thousands of happy customers, it looks like Rose Marie and I will be able to enjoy this fun business for years to come!
